In September 2025, Ms. Barina Waqa Duburiya, President of the Nauru Law Society, undertook a mission to Brisbane, Queensland, where she met with various legal organisations and professional bodies, including representatives of the Queensland legal community.
The mission was highly successful, resulting in productive discussions and preliminary agreements on future cooperation, including training programs, knowledge exchange initiatives, and professional development partnerships.
Notably, the Queensland Law Society (QLS)Â and the Nauru Law Society (NLS)Â agreed to formalise their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which is currently being drafted. The MoU will establish a framework for ongoing collaboration, capacity-building, and mutual support between the two legal communities.
